Nebraska State Poet Bill Kloefkorn, upper left, takes Kathryn N. Benzel, distinguished professor in English at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, for a spin on the stage at the Fox Theatre during a light moment Friday night. The Sandburg Project brings Carl Sandburg's poetry and songs to life, thanks to funding from the Nebraska Humanities Council, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment and the McCook College Foundation. Other participants included the Rev. Judy Dye of Wauneta, top center, who once met Sandburg on his South Carolina farm; Charles Peek, top right, professor emeritus of English at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, Terry Sinnard, above left and Mike Adams, both of Kearney, who performed a number of tunes collected by Sandburg and published in 1927 as "The American Songbag," and Lonnie Weyeneth of Danbury, right, who performed with the Capella Nova Brass Quartet, which also included Joanne Wendelin of Oberlin and Paul Wood and Donnie McCorkle, both of McCook.
