Brown, Haverkamp wedding

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Kara Brown and Brian Haverkamp, of Malden, Mass., were united in marriage Oct. 11, 2008, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Parents of the couple are Dr. A. Michael and Gail Brown of Avon, Conn., and Charlene Chittick of Falls City and the late Lou Haverkamp.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was JoAnna Masloski of Denver, Colo. Bridesmaids were Marci Montrose, of Connecticut, Kate Murray of Wisconsin and Ashley Fletcher of Medford, Mass.

Tyler Spitser, nephew of the bridegroom, from Pawnee City, was the best man. Bret Czaplewski and Shane Merideth, both of Omaha, were bridegroomsmen.

Following the wedding ceremony, a reception and dance was on the beach at Chase Palm Park Center.

The bride received her bachelor's degree from Notre Dame University, Masters Degree from Boston College and is pursuing her Doctorate in Sports Psychology at Boston University. While at Notre Dame, she was a member of the Women's Soccer Team and was recently inducted into the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

The bridegroom attended Wayne State College and earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Land Surveying/Civil Engineering from Southeast Community College, Milford. He is employed as a Land Survey Technician for Harry R. Feldman Inc., in Boston, Mass. He is a 1993 graduate from McCook High School.

The couple will make their home in Malden, Mass.
