ARAPAHOE -- Ardith Helen Morris, 79, formerly of Holbrook and McCook, died Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2009) at Premier Estates in North Platte.
She was born Nov. 15, 1929, at Elwood to Vernon and Ethel (Golden) White. She was raised in the Elwood and Bertrand area and graduated from Bertrand High School. After high school she worked as a cook at Hamburger Inn in Holdrege.
On Oct. 17, 1951, she married Howard F. Morris at Stockville. They made their home north of Holbrook and farmed for many years. She was a cook at many area restaurants in Southwest Nebraska.
In 1972, they moved into Holbrook and later move to McCook. Her husband Howard died Dec. 23, 2005. In October of 2008, she moved to Premier Estates in North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard and brother, Norman White.
Survivors include her sons, Larry and wife, Maureen Morris of Lavern, Calif., Dennis Morris of Bellflower, Calif., Merril and wife, Rane Morris of Marion and Leon and wife, Belinda Morris of Maxwell; daughter, Marcia Lemman of Salina, Kan.; sister, Carol and husband, Eldon Pouk of Holdrege; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Tim Posey of the Victory Church in North Platte officiating. Interment will be at the Holbrook Cemetery.
