EUSTIS -- Bob Jack, age 70 of Eustis, died Feb. 23, 2009 at the Tri County Hospital in Lexington.

He was born Oct. 12, 1938, at Farnam, to Chester and Eva (Lindberg) Jack. Bob entered the Army National Guard when he was in the 11th grade. He graduated from Eustis High School in 1957. He was baptized on June 4, 1961 at the Salem Lutheran Church.

On Dec. 3, 1961, he married Sharon M. Harm at the Salem Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Oklahoma briefly, before moving to a farm site southwest of Eustis where they farmed, ranched and raised their children. In 2000, the couple moved to town, where they lived in the home that Bob's parents built.

He was a long-time member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis, where he served on the church council for five years. He served as the Frontier County Commissioner for 16 years, retiring in December of 2008.

Bob was a member of the Lions Club and was president of the Westview Cemetery Board. He was a past commander of the Hablitzel-Zwink American Legion Post 257.

He enjoyed shooting blue rock, hunting, and joking around with his friends and family. He was an avid gun and coin collector. Bob was the winner of many competitive shooting contests. He especially loved his job as County Commissioner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Stacey, William and Willard; and two sisters, Evelyn Jack and Edith Hanway.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Jack of Eustis; two sons, Rodney (Janelle) Jack of Eustis and Neil (Kristen) Jack of Eustis; daughter, Melanie (Jeffrey) Wachtel of Muscatine, Iowa; sister, Betty McLellan of Crosslake, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Brandon, William, Katelyn, Rachel, Bradley, Samantha and Andrew and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis with the Rev. Beverly Rautenberg-Panko officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the East Cemetery at Eustis.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis.
