OBERLIN -- Donald Stapp, 90, died Monday (Feb. 23, 2009) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born July 15, 1918, on a farm northwest of Norcatur to Ray J. and Emma (Bailey) Stapp. He grew up northwest of Norcatur and attended country school and Norcatur High School.
On Jan. 21, 1940, he married Goldie Mae Kolsky in Norton, Kan. They lived on a farm northwest of Norcatur where he was a farmer. They moved to Oberlin in 1968. He was employed with the City of Oberlin.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Oberlin, past member of the Lions Club and Decatur County Amusement Authority since it's beginning.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Goldie of Oberlin; sons, Rodney and wife, Delores Stapp of Norton, Larry and wife, Marsha Stapp of Holcomb, Kan., and Gary and wife, Barbara Stapp of Ord; brothers, Dewaine Stapp of Oberlin; sisters, Alice Shirley of Oberlin and Delores and Richard Longwith of Mission, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be in the Norcatur Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m., until time of service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Decatur County Museum or Oberlin United Methodist Church.
