Aug. 2, 1932 - Feb. 12, 2009

INDIANOLA -- Ramona Margaret Hofman of rural Indianola went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 76 years old.

Ramona was born Aug. 2, 1932, in Kenesaw, Neb., to Reinhold and Margaret (Dudden) Hinz and was raised in the Kenesaw area. As an infant she was baptized and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kenesaw. She graduated from Kenesaw High School and taught in several rural schools.

She was united in marriage to Harvey William Hofman on Feb. 28, 1954, in Hastings. To this union three children were born. They made their home on the family farm southwest of Indianola where Ramona was a busy homemaker and mother.

She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church of rural McCook. She faithfully served in the church teaching Sunday school and participating in Lutheran Women Missionary League (LWML). She was also a member of an extension club, couple's pinochle club, Indianola Elementary third grade Good Friend Program, and was the family historian.

Ramona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. It was an honor knowing her and having her in our lives. All will miss her.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Reinhold and Margaret Hinz; her husband of almost 54 years, Harvey Hofman on Feb. 19, 2008; nephew, Doug Osler; and brother-in-law, Leonard Osler.

Survivors include her son, Brent Hofman and wife, Deb of Indianola; two daughters, Dr. Tamara and husband, Dr. Todd Hlavaty of North Platte and Peggy and husband, Dr. Cal Stoltenberg of Norman, Okla.; one sister, Georgia Osler of Kenesaw; seven grandchildren, Braden (Julia), Ilea and Kara Stoltenberg, Tessa and Troy Hlavaty, and Drew and Dylan Hofman; numerous family; and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name and will be given to some of Ramona's favorite charities.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 16, 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church (Ash Creek), rural McCook, with Pastor Kevin Schnakenberg officiating. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery.
