ARAPAHOE -- Minna Emma Noltensmeier, 96, died Saturday (Feb. 7, 2009) at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was born Aug. 13, 1912, to Henry and Mary (Grafe) Ziems in Bellingham, Wash. She was confirmed on May 13, 1928, at Salem Lutheran Church, south of Elwood in Gosper County. She attended school at Bertrand, Elwood and Holbrook.
She married Simon Carl Noltensmeier on Feb. 1, 1934, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Cambridge. They made their home north of Arapahoe and farmed for many years. Her husband died Dec. 2, 1966. She then moved to Arapahoe in 1967. In 2003, she moved into the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Simon, five brothers, four sisters and one grandchild.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Noltensmeier of North Platte, Clarence and wife, Ortha Noltensmeier of Kearney, Wayne Noltensmeier of Arapahoe; daughters, Alice and husband, Richard Dietz of Oxford, Viola and husband, Gary Cartee of Independence, Mo., and Lorene Russell of Holdrege; brother, Dean Ziems of Loveland, Colo.; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. David Otten officiating. Interment will be at St. Matthews Cemetery at Arapahoe.
Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
