BENKELMAN -- James Frederick "Jim" Adkinson, 69, died Monday (Feb. 2, 2009) at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.
He was born Dec. 26, 1939, at Benkelman, to Ivan Boyd and Vernice G. (Pringle) Adkinson. With his dad being in the military, he moved quite often with his family, and lived in numerous places including Hawaii, Denver, Colo., and Germany.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and received his honorable discharge in 1959. He worked with custodial and maintenance projects throughout the area including Denver and North Platte. He also worked on small appliances and electronics.
On Dec. 16, 1978, he married Wanda L. Brynoff at the First Baptist Church in Benkelman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Vernice Adkinson; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Ethel Pringle; his paternal grandmother, Chloe Fanning; an infant sister, Vernica; and his father-in-law, Nels Brynoff.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Adkinson of Benkelman; brother, Terry Adkinson and wife, Elizabeth of Largo, Fla.; mother-in-law, Naomi Brynoff of Benkelman; sister-in-law, Esther Terrell and husband, Dave of Omaha; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. (MST) at Forch Funeral Home Chapel in Benkelman with the Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Interment with military honors will follow services at the Benkelman Cemetery.
Visitation is today from 3 - 6 p.m., at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established in his name.
