Sheriff: We're always on call

Friday, January 30, 2009

Red Willow County Sheriff Gene Mahon reminds county residents that he and his deputies are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

"We may not always have enough personnel to have someone on duty at all times," Sheriff Mahon said. "But we're always on call, and always available."

Mahon said he is concerned that residents think they can contact their county law enforcement officers only during regular business hours. "People can call the sheriff's office (345-1850) 24/7," he said, explaining that after 4:30 p.m. and on weekends and holidays, dispatchers at the McCook Public Safety Center answer calls made to the sheriff's phone number.

"At those times, the police department will contact a deputy," Mahon said.

Anyone with further concerns is encouraged to personally contact him, Sheriff Mahon said.
