OBERLIN -- Phyllis E. Lohoefener, 83, died Thursday (Jan. 29, 2009), at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She was born Aug. 15, 1925, at Norcatur, Kan., to Jacob R. and Loretta F. (Bell) Betts. The family moved to Oberlin in 1934. She attended Norcatur Grade School, graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1943 and earned a business degree at Kansas University.
On Jan. 21, 1950, she married Ray A. Lohoefener in Oberlin. They lived in Oberlin where she worked at Decatur County National Bank for 30 years.
She was a member of Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 17, 2007; an infant daughter, Diana Jo; and a brother, James R. Betts.
Survivors include a son, Greg and wife, Mary Jo Lohoefener of Oberlin; a daughter, Deb Lohoefener of Oberlin; and five grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Charlotte Strecker-Baseler officiating. Interment will follow at the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, 1-8 p.m., and Monday beginning at 8 a.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the EDC for Golden Age Center or the Decatur County Museum.
