Melissa Bennett of Kearney and Brett Melchert of Benkelman were united in marriage July 12, 2008, at Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Tim Peterson officiating.

Parents of the bride are Tim Bennett and Angie Bennett of Kearney. Parents of the bridegroom are Rick Melchert of Trenton and Linda Melchert of Benkelman.

Grandparents of the bride are Don and Ann Endecott, Bob and Margaret Warta all of Gibbon and Dona and Jan Bennett of Colorado. Grand parents of bridegroom are Al and Burdean Melchert of Stratton and Omar and Delores Robb, formerly of Stratton.

Matron of honor was Alyssa Portillo of Shelton. Maid of honor Tiffany Dickey of Kearney. Bridesmaids were Kara Melchert, sister of the bridegroom of Hays, Kan., and Stephanie Melchert, cousin of the bridegroom, of Omaha.

The best man was Richard Wilson of Lincoln. Bridegroomsmen were Zach Loker of Benkelman, Jesse Henry of St. Frances and Wes Bernt of Omaha.

The flower girl was Aleah Onate and ring bearers were Elijah Onate of Shelton and Brayden Melchert, son of the couple, of Grant.

The organist was Karen Lind and the soloist was April Onate. The reception was at the Gibbon American Legion in Gibbon. Guestbook attendants were Alyssia Space and Kelli Overmiller.

Host couples were Dr. James and Karen Trambly of Ravenna and Mickey and Karen Onate of Gibbon.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Kearney High School. She is employed at Perkins Health Center/Hospital working as a Certified Nurse. The bridegroom is 2003 graduate of Dundy County High School. He is employed at Standard Ethanol Plant in Madrid. The couple will reside in Grant.
