The McCook High School freshman boys basketball A and B teams split games with North Platte Gold Thursday at the MHS gymnasium.

The Bison A team lost to North Platte 52-29 and the B team defeated the Bulldogs 43-33.

Kyle Gaston led the A team in scoring with 11 points. Gabe Ware added 5. Trevor Schramm led North Platte with 11 points. Jake Berglund added 9.

"We didn't do what we needed to do to win: 1) take care of the ball 2) take care of the boards 3) take care of each other on defense," said McCook coach Jason Cochran. "They outworked us on the boards and when you lose that battle, it is very hard to win."

Joel Baker paced the Bison B team with 10 points. Ware scored 9 and Matt Chitwood 8. T.J. Johnson led North Platte with 7 points. Jordan Enderle scored 6.

"They (the Bison B team) played a real good game," Cochran said. "We took care of the ball, rebounded well and took advantage of our opportunities to score."
