LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Eloise Siegfried Holliday, 87, formerly of Traer, died Tuesday (Jan. 6, 2009), at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, in Lawrence, Kan.

She was born Dec. 5, 1921, to E.G. and Emma (Luedtke) Siegfried in Lincoln, Neb. In 1925, the family moved to Traer where her father was a mechanic. In 1927, they moved to a farm between Traer and Herndon. She attended country school through the eighth grade and her first year of high school in Houston, Texas, living with a cousin. She later attended high school in Traer during the Dust Bowl days.

In the fall of 1938, she married Charley Holliday of Cedar Bluffs. He worked on farms in the Traer area and in December 1949 they moved to St. Francis.

She worked at the courthouse in St. Franics as deputy treasurer and then as treasurer. She also worked at the former Citizens State Bank for 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husban; a brother, Larry Siegfried; and two sisters, Phyllis Smith and Carol Lou Siegfried.

Survivors include a son, Dennis and wife, Sharon Holliday of Lincoln; two daughters, Charlene Myers of Fremont and Share and husband, Jim Krentzel of Oskaloosa, Kan.; two brothers, Gene Siegfried of Wray, Colo., and Delbert Siegfried of Arapahoe; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday. 10:30 a.m., CST, at the St. Francis Methodist Church with the Rev. Morita Truman officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Francis cemetery.
