INDIANOLA -- Richard C. "Dick" McConville, 84, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Community Hospital in McCook.

He was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Indianola to Tom and Lillian McConville. He grew up north of Indianola and graduated from Havanah High School.

On March 4, 1946, Richard married Luella Reiners. They spent their life farming in Frontier County. In 1987, they moved to Indianola. They moved to McCook in 2005.

He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church of Indianola and St. Patrick's Catholic Church of McCook.

Preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Summer McConville; brother, LaMoine McConville; son-in-law, Bill Gratopp; his parents, Tom and Lillian McConville; sister-in-law, Margaret McConville; brothers-in-law, Keith, Wayne and Verlyn Saladen; father and mother-in-law, John and Emma Reiners; brother and sisters-in-law, Delbert and Grace Stritt, Frank and Stella Pratt, Franklin and Irene Reiners, Sister, Alice Reiners and Charlie and Mae Karp.

Richard is survived by his wife, Luella McConville; daughters, Doris Gratopp of Omaha, Karen and Roger Gilliand of McCook and Nancy and Dave Vontz of Omaha; sons, Rick and Crinda McConville of Indianola, Dave and Ondrea McConville of Indianola and Mark and Kim McConville of Indianola; grandchildren, Gina (Gratopp) and Eric Maas, Ryan and Traci Gratopp, Emily (Gratopp) and Brian Moore, Stephanie Gilliand, Greg and Becky Gilliand, Brett Gilliand, Tobin and Jackie Vontz, Nealy (Vontz) and Tom Meisenger, Brittney Vontz, Layne, Allie, Cassa and Avery McConville, Wyatt and Paul McConville, Brooke (McConville) Nelms, Brittany McConville and Dylan McConville; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings and spouses, Garnet McConville, Robert and Kathy McConville,, Eileen Wane, Catherine and Alden Remington, Cecilia Saladen, Marilyn and Dennis Malleck; and brother and sisters-in-law, Leo and Nellie McConville, Sister Madelene Reiners and Glen and Catherine Reiners.

Dick loved his family, farming, playing cards and lots of laughter. His family remembers him as a jolly, fun, caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was devoted to those he loved.

Rosary will be tonight at 7 p.m., at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Thomas McGuire officiating. Interment will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery at Indianola.

Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
