Maywood girls, Card boys roll

HAYES CENTER -- Hayes Center's girls and boys basketball team hosted Maywood Tuesday.

The Cardinals won the boys game 59-31. The girls lost to Maywood 70-15.

No details or stats were available on the boys game.

Makayla Gardner put in 16 points for Maywood's girls. Gardner also led in rebounds.

Kadee Arensdorf followed with 11 points and had 2 assists. Brooke Koester led in steals with 7 and Melody Norgaard had 6. Susan Koester and Emily Fischer both had 4 assists.

"This was a nice way to come out of Christmas break," said Maywood coach Kim Stengel. "The girls played solid defense and were very focused tonight.
