Kenneth Verner Carlson, 80, died Sunday (Dec. 14, 2008) at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
He was born May 30, 1928, south of Herndon on the family farm to Carl Robert and Mina May (Anderson) Carlson.
On Sept. 22, 1957, he married Betty Marie (Eggers) Stone in Atwood. He adopted her children, Carol, Norma and Bruce Gerald on June 21, 1958.
He was the owner and operator of two stores in McCook, This and That Furniture and Gooch Feeds. He later sold Watkins Products.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mina Carlson; wife, Betty Carlson; son, Bruce; brother, Harlan Carlson; and sister, Hazel Guinn.
Survivors include his two daughters, Carol Koerperich of Wilsonville and Norma and husband, Ralph Crowe, of Richland, Wash.; sister, Arlene Glad of Atwood; sister-in-law, Nola Carlson of Fort Morgan, Colo.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends.
He requested cremation with no public service. A private family inurnment will be held later at the Wilsonville Cemetery.
