Area basketball roundup: Cambridge girls down Hitchcock County

CAMBRIDGE -- Cambridge's girls, ranked fourth in Nebraska Class C-2 in the Omaha World-Herald's preseason poll, rolled past Hitchcock County 60-39 in their first home basketball game of the season.

Traci Keyser scored 23 points for the Trojans win. Keyser also led in rebounds with 12 and added 2 assists.

Frankie Petersen had followed with 15 points and and 2 rebounds. Bailey Soucie added in 12 points and had 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals.

Jaci Wright led Hitchcock Count in scoring with 8 points and Jaci Kershaw had 7.

Ashley Garner was the leading rebounder with 8 and Amanda Leggott had 6. Laramey Lewis had 3 assists and 2 steals.

ARAPAHOE -- The Arapahoe Warriors won the season opener against Overton 63-56 Thursday night.

Dillon Breinig led the Warriors with 24 points. Ivan Simic added 18.

BENKELMAN -- Dundy County-Stratton girls basketball team opened the season Thursday night with a 57-41 win over St. francis at home.

Hilary Wilson led the Tigers with 11 points, followed by Amanda Downey and April Lutz with 10 each.

Lutz had 10 rebounds and Downey 8.

Overton 48

ARAPAHOE -- The Arapahoe girls beat Overton 60-48 Thursday.

Cayla Polston scored 21 points to lead the Warriors. Michele Borden scored 19.
