Not your usual bike ride

Dani Ward and her father Luke Ward of Colorado Springs, Colo., taking a flying leap off a drop off by the city pool on their unicycles Wednesday. Dani, the 11-year old granddaughter of Gene and Crystal Ward of McCook, said she started riding the unicycle with her father a year ago and learned by riding from the doorway of the dining room to chairs in the living room. "Mom doesn't care if I ride in the house because she said after I'm done she can get a new floor," Dani said. Both Dani and her father ride on hiking trails in the mountains and recently completed a descent down Pike's Peak, a total of 121⁄2 miles. In McCook on Wednesday to visit family for the Thanksgiving holiday, Dani and Luke spent Wednesday scaling the hills in Kelley Park while Mom, Stacie and sister Julie, 13, enjoyed the 60-degree weather.
