MAYWOOD -- Gerald "Jerry" Lawson, 66, of Aurora formerly of Maywood, died Friday (Nov. 21, 2008) following a battle with cancer at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born Dec. 22, 1941, at Kearney and was raised by Howard and Martha (O'Neill) Nelson. He grew up in Kearney and Maywood. He attended school at Maywood, graduating from Maywood High School in 1960.
He owned and operated Nelson Produce in Maywood. He was a member of Lions International.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Survivors include his two sons, Raymond and wife, Pamela Lawson of Hampton and John and wife, Shannon Lawson of Hampton; daughter, Christine and husband, Martin Gugelman of Maywood; two brothers, Tom and wife, Bett Lawson of Omaha and Denny and wife, Jackie Lawson of League City, Texas; a sister, Connie and husband, Lew Shoff of Bridgeport; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were today at Maywood Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stan LaRue officiating. Burial will take place in the Maywood Cemetery.
