Martha Mellisa McGehee

Martha Mellisa McGehee died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was 90 years old.

Martha was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Hot Springs, Ark., to John Thomas and Louie (McCallister) McDougal.

On June 19, 1937, she was united in marriage to Riley Chester McGehee. To this union three children were born.

Martha was a homemaker as well as a cook for a school cafeteria. She moved to the Curtis community in 1997 and then to Hillcrest Nursing Home in 2000.

She was a member of the Valley United Faith Community Church. She was a lifetime member of TOPS (take off pounds sensibly). She collected bells and loved to be spend time in her vegetable and flower garden.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Louie McDougal; one brother, Fletcher McDougal; and granddaughter, Berniece.

Survivors include her children, Charles McGehee of California, Sarah and husband, Larry Smith of Maywood and Sharon and husband, Sonny Fike of Reno, Nev.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in her name.
