Doris Isola Mohr died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Neb., at the age of 85.
She was born May 14, 1923, at Ovid, Colo., the daughter of the late Earnest E. and Mary Etta (Young) Cox. She grew up in McCook where she received her education.
On July 16, 1940, Doris married Carl Mohr at Indianola, Neb. They have spent their married life in McCook where her husband was a barber.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Royal Neighbors Lodge in McCook. Doris was an avid fisherwoman and bowler. She was the first lady in McCook to bowl a score of 609 for three games. She enjoyed playing all kinds of cards and watching golf and baseball on TV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mavis Monard, Mamie Hackenkamp and Lois Schneider; granddaughter, Carrie Corey; and special nephew, Stanie Cox.
Doris is survived by her husband, Carl Mohr of McCook; one son, Carl Stanley Mohr and wife, Georgia of Sun City West, Ariz.; and one daughter, Mary Lee Corey and husband, Neal of McCook; three grandchildren, Toby and wife, Jean of Clovis, N.M., Todd and wife, Kelly of Omaha, Neb., and Heidi and Randy of Lexington, Neb.; six great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Peyton, Samantha, Joshua, Zachary and Corey; one brother, Stanley "Bud" Cox of McCook; one sister, Cleora "Jay" Cox of McCook; and relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at the First Congregational Church in McCook with the Rev. Steve Bales officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to Hillcrest Nursing Home or the McCook Humane Society.
Friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home Saturday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.
