St. Francis rolls into Class 2-1A second round

ST. FRANCIS -- The St. Francis Indians rolled into the next round of the Kansas Class 2-1A football playoffs with a 52-8 victory over Decatur Community High School-Oberlin Tuesday at St. Francis.

The Indians improved to 9-1 and will play La Crosse (10-0) in the second round Saturday. La Crosse blasted Stanton County 55-6.

St. Francis rushed for 480 yards on 52 carries.

St. Francis' Trent Raile rushed for 225 yards on 12 carries and scored five touchdowns against Oberlin. His TD runs were of 29, 17, 42, 60 and 36 yards.

Trent Raile now has 1,632 yards rushing with 20 TDs this season.

Drew Zweygardt had 74 yards on 4 carries. Adam Guthmiller had 61 yards on 6 carries, including a 37-yard TD run and a 2-point conversion.

Cody Sherlock had 55 yards on 15 carries and a 2-point conversion. Trevor Hilt had 37 yards on 8 carries and scored two 2-point conversions.

Jesse Pacheco capped the scoring for the Indians with a 27-yard interception return for a TD.

Jacob Fortin scored Oberlin's TD in the second quarter on a 1-yard run. Oberlin added the 2-point conversion.

Trent Kinen led the St. Francis defense with 9 tackles, Guthmiller added 8 and Matt Raile 7. Kinen and Sam Sowers each had a sack.

The season ended for Rawlins County-Atwood with a 29-18 loss at Oakley Tuesday night.
