George Blankenship, a sophomore in McCook Senior High's LIFT program, struggles with tangled hangers during preparation this morning for McCook's annual "Coat Closet" giveaway Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Bundles of hangers will be given away as well as coats, hats, mittens, blankets and warm winter clothing Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.; and Friday, from 8 a.m. until noon -- all at the Nebraska Army National Guard Armory at 404 W. Seventh. Donations will be taken today until 5:30 p.m. Coat Closet coordinator Barb Ostrum said this morning the Coat Closet would not be successful each year without the assistance of volunteers, the LIFT students and offenders from the Nebraska Department of Corrections Work Ethic Camp in McCook.
