Emory Putz died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at his home in McCook. He was 77 years old.
Emory was born on July 12, 1931, in Hastings to Emory Walter and Bessie Glenda (Henderson) Putz, Sr. He graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1948.
He was united in marriage to Lucille M. Leetsch at Denver, Colo., on July 12, 1951. To this union five children were born. They moved to the McCook community in 1962 where Emory sold life insurance for 46 years until his retirement.
He loved to hunt, fish and golf with his many friends. He was an avid sports fan earning the "Travel Award" to sports events after his children were out of school. His most enjoyment came from spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Emory and Bessie Putz; his wife of 57 years, Lucille Putz on Aug. 2, 2008; and one sister, Betty Pilkington.
Survivors include his children, Jim Putz and wife, Wanda Jo, of Crete, Carol and husband, Basil Burge, of Lafe, Ark., Rob Putz and wife, Cherri, of McCook, Patricia and husband, David G. Unger, of McCook and Diane and husband, Joe Wieser, of McCook; two sisters-in-law, LaVon Montey of Fort Collins, Colo., and Dorothy Mills of Omaha; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon and Sunday from 5- 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the visitation. Friends may send condolences to www.carpenterbreland.com
Memorial services will be Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, 2 p.m. at the Corner Stone Fellowship Church in McCook with Rob Putz and the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at the Palisade Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
