Web sites hosting community survey

Wednesday, September 24, 2008
The Promotions Committee of the newly reformed Main Street program has announced the availability of a consumer survey on several area Web sites, including the Gazette. The online survey includes 29 multiple choice questions and takes only a few minutes to complete.

Main Street's Promotions Committee is charged with the responsibility of helping develop promotional events and marketing packages for the main street area. In order to do so effectively, the committee must first, according to Main Street literature, "Compile information about the marketplace."

The consumer survey, in combination with a merchant survey being conducted within the main street area, seeks to answer the questions:

* What is the current business mix?

* What is the market potential?

* What demographics are we currently attracting?

* What are the shoppers' attitudes?

* What are the merchants' attitudes?

A number of McCook area websites have offered to host the survey, including KICX radio, the McCook Economic Development Corporation, Southwest Nebraska News and the McCook Daily Gazette, where it is now available.

McCook Main Street President Doug Joyce said, "We appreciate all the community Web sites that have offered to host the survey and look forward to sharing the results."
