Huff trial continued

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

BEAVER CITY -- The trial of a Grant/Holbrook man accused of killing an Arapahoe mother of two little girls may be continued rather than heard Oct. 1 and 2.

Herchel Huff is charged with killing Kasey Jo Warner as she and her daughter walked on a country road southwest of Arapahoe Oct. 3, 2007. Huff faces charges of motor vehicle homicide, driving while intoxicated (fourth offense), tampering with a witness, refusal to submit to a chemical test and no proof of insurance.

Furnas County Attorney Tom Patterson said Tuesday morning that a motion for continuance from Huff's attorney will be heard Wednesday, Sept. 24.

District Court Judge James Doyle III accepted pleas of not guilty from Huff, 34, in November 2007.

  • This is a bunch of crap, this has been postponed long enough. They need to get this guy into court and make him pay for taking away someone that was special to a lot of people.

  • This has been postponed long enough! Where is the justice in a case like this? A family has had to move foward with their life.....without Kasey. What a shame!

  • This man was under the influence of some substance, that was determined, no insurance, what could possibly a reason for a continuance? I wonder if there are 12 people in Furnas County that wouldn't convict this man? No Judge should allow this to extend any longer...This is "crap".

  • Herchel Huff made a choice almost one year ago that took the life of one of my best friends. This was not the first time he made that choice, and it sickens me that he still refuses to accept the blame for getting behind the wheel that night. His actions could have easily taken two lives that night, but Kasey Jo proved a hero in the ultimate test of a mother's love. I pray that Judge Doyle will decline the motion for continuance, and justice can finally be served. Please don't drink and drive!!!

  • The justice which should be given in this case involves the old saying, "An eye for eye. A tooth for a tooth". He is of no use to society and a waste of our tax dollars. All the judge has to do is give me permission and I'll bring the rope. KC is missed by her family and missed by those she taught.
