BARTLEY -- A retired McCook school teacher and assistant football and track coach was to undergo surgery today for injuries suffered in a one-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in a pasture northeast of Bartley.
Jeff "Big Mo" Mollring was transported from the accident scene by Bartley rescue crews to Cambridge Memorial Hospital, and then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital of Kearney. He is listed in fair condition at the Kearney hospital.
A report by Red Willow County sheriff's deputy Lt. Burke Curl indicates that Mollring was injured at 1:52 p.m., when the front end of the SUV driven by Johnny E. Walker, 61, of Trenton, dropped into a wash-out in the pasture in which Walker, Mollring and Randy Bauer, also of McCook, were slowly driving. The pasture is located six miles north and three miles east of Bartley, just inside Red Willow County at the north end of a dead-end county road.
Walker and Bauer, both real estate agents, were uninjured.
Mollring retired from teaching history/social studies and physical education and coaching football and track in May.
Hey Coach! Long time no see, but I hope you are doing well and get better every day! You were always a great teacher and coach and I look forward to seeing you when the opportunity arises! God bless and take care!
