Radio stations announce fall broadcast plans

Friday, August 22, 2008

Area radio stations recently announced their fall sports broadcast plans.

KICX will again cover McCook Bison football games for the 29th year, KADL will cover Chase County and there will be a Game of the Week on KROCK 98.5-FM.

Rich Barnett and Mitch Lyster will cover games for KICX, Jarrett Finley for KADL and Clint Bradbury for KROCK.

KICX will also carry some McCook softball games and volleyball matches.

The KICX Web site is http://www.kicx.net/

Hometown Family Radio will carry an aggressive schedule of local sporting events this fall.

The three stations, US 93.9, Coyote Country 105.3 and Z-102 will combine to carry over 30 regular season broadcasts.

US 93.9 will again be the voice of McCook High athletics.

Steve Stein and Bruce Lester will team to broadcast Bison Football.

Stein has been broadcasting sporting events for more than 20 years.

Lester is a former NCAA Division I football player who adds an insight few broadcasters in this region can match.

Together, they have a chemistry which makes for an entertaining and informative broadcast.

In addition, US 93.9 and Z-102 will team to broadcast six regular season Bison volleyball and softball broadcasts plus all of the post-season events.

For fans of other McCook High Sports, Stein will again produce Bison Beat, a weekly program featuring interviews with athletes from each sport which is in-season.

Coyote Country 105.3 will broadcast area high school athletics.

The station will squeeze 14 games into just nine weeks of regular season competition and then be there during the postseason for all the big games.

Mark Searcey begins his second year of play-by-play for Coyote Country 105.3.

After the games on Friday, Hometown Family Radio will team with the Husker Sports Network for extensive post-game features.

The Friday Nebraska High School Football Show will air until 11 p.m.

Greg Larson anchors local coverage with scores, wraps and interviews from around the region on US 93.9.
