CALLAWAY -- Vera Horn, 87, of Cambridge, formerly of McCook, died Wednesday (Aug. 13, 2008) at Cambridge, Neb.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at 1 p.m., in the United Methodist Church in Callaway with the Revs. Doug Jones and Jerry Schwarz officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Govier Brothers Mortuary and Friday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the church in Callaway.
Memorials have been established to the United Methodist Church of Oconto.
Vera was born Aug. 26, 1920, to John and Elizabeth (George) Volzke at the farm in Ansley. Vera was married to Leslie W. Horn on March 27, 1940, in Lexington.
She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. Vera Mae was an avid race horse fan. One of her greatest joys was watching their horses run. Cally, the calico cat has been a constant companion of Vera Mae's. Her one wish was to have Cally buried with her.
Survivors include one son, Charles and wife, Patsy of Oconto; daughter-in-law, Connie Horn of Aurora, Colo.; three granddaughters, Lori Jorgensen, Lana Horn and Tiffany Orckovich; one grandson, J. Tyrone Horn; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Vera Mae was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jim; one grandson, Lane Horn; two sisters; and her husband, Leslie.
