ARAPAHOE -- Raymond Glen "Pete," Highland, age 70 years of Omaha was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Cambridge, Neb., to Glenn and Vera (Campbell) Highland. Pete passed away at Hospice House in Omaha on Aug. 9, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He loved to fish and was always game for a fishing trip. He was a compassionate man with a big heart. He loved his family above all else and they will miss him and his crazy sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by both parents and infant brother, Jimmy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; daughter, Dianna of Omaha; three sons, Charles of Johnson Lake, Neb., Douglas (Lina) of Hershey, Neb., and Steve (Michelle) of Blair, Neb.; two sisters, Barbara Woods (Lon) of Pittsburg, Kan., and Amy Johnson of Scottsbluff, Neb.; six grandchildren, Nickolus (Carmen) of Bethany, Okla., Linlie of North Platte, Neb., Katelin of North Platte, Crystal of Denver, Colo., Jennifer of Blair, Neb., and Meagan Highland of Elwood, Neb.; aunt, Letha Harned of Brookings, Ore.; brother-in-law, Royal Miller (Kae) of Hastings, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Graveside services and interment will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., in the Arapahoe Cemetery.
