JENNINGS -- Mildred Helena Tacha, 96, died Thursday (July 31, 2008) in Oberlin.
She was born Aug. 20, 1911, in Hoxie, Kan., to John and Katherine (Baier) Allen. She grew up in Hoxie and Jennings and attended Jennings High School and graduated in 1929.
On June 24, 1936, she married Julius "Punch" Tacha. They lived on the family farm near Jennings, where she was a homemaker. In 1997, she moved to Oberlin.
She was a member of the Jennings United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine Allen; husband, Julius Tacha; brother, Harry Allen; sister, Dorothy Allen; and one great-great-grandson.
Survivors include her son, John and wife, Deanell Tacha of Lawrence, Kan.; daughter, Kay and husband, Doyle Brown of Jennings; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, 11:30 a.m., at Jennings United Methodist Church in Jennings, with the Rev. Carrie Buhler officiating. Inurnment will be in the Jennings Cemetery.
There is no visitation.
Memorials may be given to the church or Cedar Living Center of Oberlin.
