McCook Football League teams post three shutouts

Defense ruled Game Night 2 of the McCook Football League at Weiland Field.

Three of the four games played Tuesday night ended in shutouts.

In 5th-6th grade action, the Rams shut out the Eagles 12-0 and the Redskins defeated the Cowboys 19-13 in overtime.

In 7th-8th grade action, the Ravens shut out the Raiders 7-0 and the Colts blanked the Chiefs 32-0.

The Rams scored on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Matson to Kasey Taylor in the second quarter (the PAT failed) and a 2-yard TD run by Brett Baumbach in the fourth quarter (no PAT was attempted).

The Redskins' Kyle Rotherham scored on TD runs of 30 and 4 yards, the latter of which came in overtime. He also had a PAT run.

Colton Lashley scored the Redskins' first TD on a 2-yard run in the first quarter.

Lyle Lichty scored the Cowboys' first TD on a 65-yard run and Peyton Stangemeyer added a 30-yard TD run and threw a PAT pass to Keaton Garcia.

The Ravens scored the only TD in the game against the Raiders on an 8-yard pass from Mack Alspaugh to Kyle VanDike.

Austin Cherry added a PAT run.

The Colts got TD runs of 65, 20 and 42 yards from Jake Schlager.

Mitchell Shillington added a 70-yard TD run and a 2-yard TD pass from Caden Weyerka to Keith Towne.

Schlager an in a PAT and Towne caught a PAT pass from Riley Garey.

The MFL schedule concludes Thursday night.

In 5th-6th grade action, the Redskins (2-0) play the Rams (2-0) at 6 p.m., followed by the Eagles (0-2) against the Cowboys (0-2) at 7 p.m.

In 7th-8th grade action, the Ravens (2-0) play the Colts (2-0) at 8 p.m., followed by the Chiefs (0-2) against the Raiders (0-2) at 9 p.m.
