Heavy rains in May caused erosion damage to the storm sewer on M Street, north of the football field. Repairs will involve installing a new curb and drop structure into Kelley Park.

Due to the sudden nature of the repairs, it was not included in the current budget but with approval from the council can be assigned for the 2008-09 budget.
Also included in this item, the council will be asked to approve the repair plans and specifications for two parking lot improvements on Norris Avenue, that were already scheduled in the one year plan for street improvements.
In the second regular agenda item, the council will be asked to approve the plans to complete the deep injection well.
The well was constructed for disposal of the anion waste from the water treatment plant. The anion waste contains the nitrates, uranium and arsenic removed from the water when it is treated.
In discussions with the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, it was decided not to spend the money on injection pumps that would have pumped the waste underground. Instead, the well will take the waste on a vacuum, but in case things change, the building is designed for two future pumps, if needed.
The budget for fiscal year 2008-09 includes $250,000 for the completion work of the well.
Consent agenda items, that can be approved in one motion or pulled for discussion by a member of the council or by a member of the public, include:
* approve an agreement between the city and the Nebraska Department of Roads for a $100,000 grant, with a 20 percent match, for the construction of a transit maintenance and storage facility at the Heritage Senior Center. The city's match is $20,000.
* approve the request from the Red Willow County Fair Board for extra trash cans, eight bleachers, eight picnic tables and the city's water truck for the fair, July 23-27. This is an annual request from the Red Willow County Fair Board.
* approve the request from St. Patrick Catholic Church to close East Fourth from F to G Streets and East G Street from East Third and Fourth, on Sunday, September 21 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., for its annual fall festival.
* approve the application for special designated liquor licenses for Mo Dough LLC, to cater wedding receptions at the Red Willow County Fairgrounds on August 30 and Dec. 13
After the regular meeting, the council will have its final meeting on the proposed 2008-09 budget.
