ATWOOD -- George Charles Andrade, 88, died Tuesday (July 8, 2008) at Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

He was born to William Gregory and Mary Quintal Andrade on Feb. 23, 1920, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He graduated from Saint Louis School in Honolulu in 1939.

On Dec. 7, 1941, he entered the U.S. Army Air Force and served during World War II. He was discharged in 1946, following his last assignment in the Occupation of Japan.

He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in California, before he was called back to active duty in 1951, for the Korean War. He remained on active duty with the U.S. Air Force until he retired in 1963.

After retirement he lived in Oakland, Calif., where he served as a docent at the Oakland Museum and fed the poor at St. Francis Center.

He lived in Oakland until 2002, when he moved to Atwood, where he lived in the Good Samaritan Center and Rawlins County Health Center.

Survivors include his nephew, Joe Cabrinha and wife, Peggy of Atwood and Tom Cabrinha and wife, Pat of Honolulu.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood, with the Rev. Daniel Scheetz officiating. Interment will be in the Atwood Fairview Cemetery.

Rosary services will be Monday, 7 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Atwood Good Samaritan Center or Rawlins County Health Center.
