Clifford Galen Schoup died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Neb., at the age of 77.
He was born April 25, 1931, in McCook the son of the late Conrad and Amelia (Miller) Schoup. Clifford grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1950.
On March 31, 1955, Clifford married Carol Klooz at Culbertson, Neb., and they made their home in McCook where Cliff worked for Galen Klein Construction before going to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1956, where he was a brakeman, retiring in 1992.
Cliff was an avid football fan for the McCook Bison and the Nebraska Cornhuskers He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook.
Cliff was preceded in death by Carol Schoup on Jan. 4, 2005; his parents; brothers, Leon Schoup, Kenneth Schoup and Raymond Schoup; and sister, Margie Doty.
Clifford is survived by two daughters, Debra Schoup of McCook and Kathryn Goforth and husband, Kevin of Fort Morgan, Colo.; two sons, Dennis Schoup of Alliance, Neb., and Keith Schoup and wife, Jaci of Casper, Wyo.; four grandchildren, Nathan Goforth, Aaron Goforth, Abigail Schoup and Hannah Schoup; one sister, Gladys Delimont of McCook; and relatives and friends,
Graveside services with military honors will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2008, at Fort McPerson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Neb., with Chaplain Norval Holtmeier officiating.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Nebraska Heart Association and left at the funeral home.
Friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., on Saturday and from 1 - 6 p.m., on Sunday.
