Seniors split home games

The McCook National Bank Seniors American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with Ogallala Wednesday night at Jaycees Sports Complex.

Ogallala won the opener 8-2 and McCook claimed the nightcap 6-5.

McCook improved its record to 10-8.

FCB Juniors fall to Ogallala -- The McCook First Central Bank Juniors dropped an 8-0 decision to Ogallala Wednesday night in Ogallala.

Courtesy Cody Wutdke makes a backhanded stop at third base for the McCook Junior B's American Legion baseball team Wednesday night at Imperial. McCook won the first game 5-2 and lost the second game 16-3. Wudtke was involved in six of the team's 15 outs on defense and was 2-for-3 on offense with a double and single.

McCook was led by Matt Thayer and Delvin Jackson with two hits each. Justin Terry, Catlin Rice and Andrew McCurdy added one hit each.

Drew Peterson picked up the pitching loss for McCook.

A second game was called in the third inning due to lightning with Ogallala leading 8-2.

Rice had two hits to lead McCook, with Jackson, Terry and Thayer adding one hit each.

Chris Conroy was on the mound for McCook as the game was halted.

The loss dropped McCook's record to 3-14-1.

The FCB Juniors are next in action Thursday at Holdrege.

McCook Junior B's split with Imperial -- The McCook Junior B's American Legion baseball team split a doubleheader at Imperial Wednesday.

McCook, now 12-9, won the first game and lost the second game 16-3.

In the first game, McCook scored three runs in the top of the first inning.

Imperial scored single tallies in the bottom of the first and second to close the gap to 3-2, but the Junior B's added two insurance runs in the top of the fourth.

Keegan Williams and Zayne Gillen shared pitching duties, with Williams getting the win.

Cody Wudtke doubled and singled for the Junior B's. Lucas Post had two singles. Cameron Burkey and Drew Bredvick had one single each.

In the second game, Imperial scored 12 runs in the bottom of the second and six in the third. McCook scored three runs in the top of the third.

The game ended after three innings on the run rule.

Josh Escher and Burkey shared pitching duties for the Junior B's, with Escher getting the loss.

Williams and Gavin Harsh had one single each for the Junior B's.

McCook hosts a 6 p.m. doubleheader tonight against Colby.
