ARAPAHOE -- Dale Hiram Phillips, 94, died Monday (June 9, 2008) at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
He was born Aug. 7, 1913, in Gosper County to Roy E. and Effie Mae (Foster) Phillips. He grew up north of Arapahoe in Gosper County.
On March 22, 1936, he married Wilda Mae Rhodes in Lexington. They moved north of Arapahoe, where they farmed and raised cattle. He also worked for Lammel's Plumbing and Heating of Arapahoe for 10 years. In 1963, they moved to Arapahoe. His wife died in January of 1970.
On Aug. 30, 1974, he married Phyllis Morgan in Colorado. They moved to Lamar, Colo., were he worked for the Sheriffs Posse and boarded horses. They then moved to Topeka, Kan., for a short time before she died on May 6, 1993.
He returned to Arapahoe in 2003, and in May of 2008, he moved into the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cecil Phillips; wives, Wilda Mae Phillips and Phyllis Phillips; daughter, Beverly Ann (Lovelace) Waline; and sisters-in-law, Margie White Phillips and Nonna Shoefeldt Phillips.
Survivors include his daughter, Dixie and husband, Thomas Rask of Edison; step-son, Michael Oldham of Kansas; step-daughter, Teresa Dixon of Topeka, Kan.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m., at Edison Christian Church in Edison with the Rev. Kirk Einspahr officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
