WILSONVILLE -- Margaret L. Spence, 87, of Beaver Citydied Wednesday (June 11, 2008) at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
She was born Nov. 30, 1920, on a farm west of Wilsonville to Fred and Bessie (Goble) McComb. The family moved to a house in Wilsonville in 1925. She attended and graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1938.
In 1939, she married Kenneth N. Spence. During her 40 plus years of employment in Wilsonville, she taught piano (more than 60 students), was a grocery store clerk and wore many hats in the Postal Service from which she retired as Postmaster in 1983.
She played the piano for most types of events. She was a Methodist for more than 70 years. She lived in Wilsonville until July 2006, when she moved to Beaver City Assisted Living. She resided there until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother and her husband, Kenneth.
Survivors include her children, Sondra Spence of Lincoln, Lonnie Spence of Vail, Colo., and Vada and husband, Ron Krauss of Grand Island; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Wilsonville Methodist Church with Keith Theobald and the Rev. Russell Malchow officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at the Wilsonville Cemetery.
Memorials are requested to the Wilsonville Cemetery.
