LaMoine Thomas McConville died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. He was 86 years old.
On Sept. 3, 1921, he was born in Indianola to Thomas Patrick and Lillian C. (Colling) McConville. He graduated from Havana High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
LaMoine married Margaret Ann Erdman at St Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola on July 5, 1948. She died Nov. 29, 1977.
He married Garnet I. (Fritsch) Houghtelling in Cambridge on Nov. 25, 1978.
He lived all his life in the Indianola and McCook communities. He farmed and enjoyed playing cards and wood working.
He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church of Indianola and St. Patrick's Catholic Church of McCook.
Preceding him death were, his parents; wife, Margaret Ann; son, John T. and infant son, Michael; three infant daughters, Mary, Helen and Ann; a grandson, Gary Blume; and brothers-in-law, Keith Wane and Verlyn Saladen.
Survivors include his wife, Garnet of McCook; sons, Bill and wife, Sandy McConville of Culbertson and Ed and wife, Rita McConville of Indianola; daughters, Kathy and husband, Dale Wemhoff of Norfolk, Judy and husband, Brent Dickie of Omaha, Betty and husband, Mark Dodd of Chicago, Ill., and Donna McConville of Virginia Beach, Va.; step-sons, David and wife, Deb Houghtelling of Cambridge, Dennis and wife, Donna Houghtelling of Indianola and Kenneth and wife, Beth Houghtelling of Cambridge; step-daughters, Caron and husband, Don High of Indianola, Connie and husband, Gary Rothmeyer of Aurora, Colo., Paula and husband, James Blume of Indianola and LuAnne and husband, Doug Gnuse of Valley; two brothers, Richard and wife, Luella McConville of McCook and Robert and wife, Kathy McConville of Indianola; four sisters, Eileen Wane of Omaha, Catherine and husband, Alden Remington of McCook; Cecilia Saladen of Santa Fe, N.M., and Marilyn and husband, Dennis Malleck of Ness City, Kan.; 37 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Visitation will be Thursday 9 a.m. -- 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in McCook at the funeral home. Friends may sign his book at the funeral home or send condolences online at www.carpenterbreland.com.
Rosary will be Friday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Father Gary Brethour officiating.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 31, 10 a.m., at St Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Thomas McGuire and Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Indianola.
