APA Pool Championships to continue

More than 100 pool players from all over Western Nebraska will make their way to McCook this weekend for the $9,500 Western Nebraska APA Pool League 9-Ball Team Championship.

Fourteen teams will compete in the tournament to be held at the Republican River Valley Event Center (Kelley Creek Pub). The top two teams will advance to the APA National Team Championships.

The Western Nebraska APA Team Championships are conducted over a period of four weekends with the winning teams advancing to the $1 Million APA National Team Championship Events in Las Vegas with expenses paid.

Local teams and players competing this weekend in the 9-Ball event include:

Junkyard Dogs from Charley's in McCook -- Bob Spry, Kevin Anderson, Robert Matson, Rebecca Anderson, Josh Parde, Rich Marshall and Yolanda Hanes.

Pool Junkies from Kelley Creek Pub in McCook -- Don Sawyer, JP Wallace, Rod Sawyer, Roger Loop, Donna Loop, Wayne Brunswick, Rich Junker and Robert Downey.

Longshots from Charley's in McCook -- Mike Shafer, David Thornbrugh, Rick Shafer, Vickie Thornbrugh, Bill Shafer, Pauline Shafer, Robert Yost and the late Glenn Morgan.
