STRASBURG, Colo. -- Ella Mae (Smalberger) Wahrman, 85, died April 26, 2008, at her home in Strasburg, Colo.

She was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Marion to Glenn and Arvella (Sines) Smalberger. She attended country schools and graduated from Decatur County High School in 1941.

On Aug. 17, 1955, she married William "Bill" V. Wahrman in Herndon. She worked as a homemaker. They lived in Atwood for 10 years. In 1965, they moved to Limon, Colo., where they lived for three years.

They later moved to Flagler, Colo., and lived there for five years before moving to Strasburg in 1971.

She was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; seven children, Jim and Cindy Wahrman of Farmville, Va., Marcia and husband, Lenny Musslewhite of Lloyd, Fla., Steve and wife, Jeanette Ward of Aurora, Colo., Dan Wahrman of Strasburg, Colo., Barb and husband, Terry Pape of Bennett, Colo., Joella and husband, Ed Ward of Littleton, Colo., and Jeri and husband, Howie Crandell of Strasburg; sister, Margie Welsh of McCook; two brothers, Melvin Smalberger of Oberlin and Richard Smalberger of Beaverton, Ore.; sister-in-law, Gladys Smalberger of Portland, Ore.; 21 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was April 30, 2008, at Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church in Byers, Colo., with burial in the Byers Cemetery.
