ATWOOD -- Frank Lawrence Pochop, 91, died Thursday (May 8, 2008) at Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.
He was born Sept. 5, 1916, at Beardsley, Kan., to Rudolph and Vincentia (Novotny) Pochop.
On April 11, 1950, he married Elizabeth Chleborad at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood. He worked as a farmer, raising crops and operating cattle and hog operations.
He was a member of the Beardsley School Board, Beardsley Equity Coop Board, a member and committeeman of St. John Nepomucene Church and of Catholic Workman No. 74 now called FCSLA for more than 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Lorens, Agnes Pochop, Helen Douthit and Margaret Faimon and brothers, Victor, Vincent and Ralph Pochop.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; sons, Anthony and wife, Annette of Anderson, Calif., Gerard and wife, Anita of Atwood, Kevin of Atwood and Michael and wife, Deb of Atwood; daughters, Cynthia and husband, Bob of Fayetteville, NC., and Becky and husband, Mike of Clyde, Kan.; sister, Angie Demmer of Denver, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Jean Pochop and Lucy Pochop, both of Atwood; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Tuesday at St. John Nepomucene Church in northwest rural Atwood with the Rev. Galen Long officiating.
Visitation is today until 4 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood and after 6 p.m., at the church. A parish vigil and KD rosary is today at 7 p.m., at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in his name to be designated at a later date.
