BENKELMAN -- Jerome C. "Joe" Kirkpatrick, 62, died Friday (May 9, 2008) at his home in Benkelman.
He was born May 8, 1946, at Denver, Color., to A.C. "Jack" and Helen M. (Schott) Kirkpatrick and attended school in Benkelman.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Benkelman where he worked at various jobs throughout the area; including Justice Feed Mill, Benkelman Elevators, and Miller Manufacturing in Stratton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Helen Kirkpatrick; brother, Davey; sisters, Judy and Penney; two infant sisters; and one niece, Jackie.
Survivors include his companion and special friend of 25 years, Susan McKillip of Benkelman; a son, Jerry Kirkpatrick of Goodland, Kan.; a daughter, Stacy Gorham of Fresno, Calif.; step-sons, Tony McKillip and wife, Beth of McCook, and Tom McKillip and wife, Kelly of Trumble; a sister, Nacy Chada and husband, David of Ogallala; a brother-in-law, Larry Wilson of Paxton; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m. (MDT) in the Forch Funeral Home chapel in Benkelman with the Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Interment with military honors will follow services at the Ogallala Cemetery in Ogallala, at 2:30 p.m.
Visitation will be Monday, 2-6 p.m. at funeral home in Benkelman.
Memorials may be given in his name.
