LINCOLN -- Nebraska Wesleyan University was among the 35 teams selected to play in the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships when the field was announced Monday by the NCAA-III Men's Golf Committee.

The championships are May 13-16 at the Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Georgia.

The championships will be co-hosted by Emory University and the Gwinnett Sports Commission. A total of 180 participants will compete at the 2008 championships.

This is the fifth straight year that NWU has been selected for the NCAA III Championships, and the 24th overall season that the Prairie Wolves have made the NCAA Division III Championships.

NWU, currently ranked 10th in the DIII Coaches Poll, placed in a tie for 10th at the NCAA III Championships last season after winning the National Championship in 2006. They have placed in the top 10 in each of their last five appearances.

McCook High School alum Tyler Lawson, a senior at NWU who will graduate May 17, will compete in the national tournament.

Lawson, the son of Lonnie and Cindy Lawson of McCook, will continue his education at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha to pursue a career as a pharmacist.
