McCook man leads cops on high-speed chase

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

A McCook man led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through the city Tuesday afternoon before he was finally stopped.

Red Willow County Chief Deputy Alan Kotschwar was leaving a training session at the Heritage Senior Center when he noticed a vehicle speeding north 60-70 mph hours on West First. The alleged driver, Dustin Stuck, 25, of McCook, continued through stop signs as Kotschwar pursued the vehicle.

The car lost control at a resident's lawn at the T-intersection of West O and First Streets, pulled back out, drove into another yard and attempted to drive off again when Kotschwar pulled his car in front of the vehicle and prevented the driver from continuing.

Stuck, who remains in custody, was cited for driving while intoxicated, willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, speeding and open container. Assisting in the arrest was a Nebraska State Patrol trooper, two deputies with the Red Willow County Sheriff's office and three officers with the McCook Police Department.

Stuck was sentenced in 2006 to 24-30 months with the Nebraska Department of Corrections in 2006 for escaping from law enforcement. Stuck escaped from custody shortly after he was arraigned in District Court for burglary charges.

Isn't it about time that this young man get a more than a slap on the wrist for his misbehaviors?? This young man has been in the papers for more things than I can count over the years and obviously he hasn't learned his lesson as of yet!! When is the legal system going to get fed up with seeing him and finally put him away so he doesn't kill someone someday? I actually just recently moved from McCook and in fact lived on "O" street. It scares me to think that my 3 year old little girl could have been out in the yard playing and been killed by this man!!

Another pillar of society bites the dust!

What a loser. Why can't people like this just be made into permanent "chain-gangers" so the rest of society can at least get something good out of them! Nobody will give a crap whether this guy gets punished or not until he runs over some child or a mother walking with her child and kills them.
