BEAVER CITY -- Marilyn D. Martin, 80, of Beaver City, died Saturday (May 3, 2008) at Phelps Memorial Hospital at Holdrege.
She was born Aug. 13, 1927, at Lyle, Kan., to Clarence and Vera (Bradley) Enfield. She grew up in Kansas and later moved to Nebraska. She graduated in 1945, from Wilsonville High School. Following graduation she taught county school south of Hendley.
She married Robert S. Martin on Aug. 11, 1947, at Beaver City. She continued to teach a couple more years. They farmed south of Beaver City until Robert's death on Dec. 1, 1997. She moved to Beaver City Plaza in 1997, and spent the past five years at Beaver City Assisted Living and Beaver City Manor.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Beaver City and was a past member of the Happy Go Lucky Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; sons, Dennis and Craig; and sister, Joyce.
Survivors include her son, Tom Martin and wife, Deborah of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Ermalea Mason of Salina, Kan.; three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Robert E. Berlie Sr. and Keith Theobald officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City.
Visitation and viewing is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
