OBERLIN -- Eunice K. Avery, 89, died Sunday (April 27, 2008) at her home in Oberlin.
She was born Nov. 21, 1918, to Alpha and Amelia (Alexander) Mercer in Green Leaf, Kan. She grew up and attended school in Green Leaf.
On Aug. 23, 1936, she married Charles W. Avery in Junction City, Kan. They lived in Junction City, where she was employed at Dillions Grocery Store. She moved to Oberlin in 2005.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Junction City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Avery; parents, Alpha and Amelia Mercer; brothers, Merle, Sylvester, Chester and William; and sister, Mary Nickols.
Survivors include her sons, Charles and wife, Linda Avery of Bismark, N.D., and James and wife, Jackie Avery of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Cathy Madsen and husband, Keith of Bridgewater, N.J.; brother, Roy and wife, Lila Mercer of Atchison, Kan.; sister, Edna Hildebrant of St. Augustine, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Keith Madsen officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Junction City.
Visitation will be Thursday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m., until time of service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
