CAMBRIDGE -- Lenna Fern (Halley) Brush, 87, died Friday (April 25, 2008), at the Community Hospital in McCook.
She was born Oct. 26, 1920, in a sod house in Frontier County southeast of Curtis, to George Halley and Ida (Hinton) Halley. She graduated from eighth grade at North Star School in Frontier County.
On Feb. 25, 1943, she married Marion S. Brush in McCook. The couple lived in and around the Stockville and Curtis area until 1953 when they moved to Bartley.
She held several jobs after moving to Bartley, including the U.S. Post Office delivery route from Bartley to Stockville; head cook at the Bartley Public Schools for 14 years and the State of Nebraska Game and Parks until her retirement on May 31, 1987.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion in 1988; three sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon and husband, Ed Tines of Cambridge and Beverly Brush and partner, Weylin Doyle of Bonney Lake, Wash.; two sons, Roger and wife, Betty Brush of McCook and Rodney and wife, Mary Brush of Colby, Kan.; one sister, Helen Swayne of McCook; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary with Raymond Durner officiating. Burial will be at the Bartley Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Bartley Rescue Squad.
