NORFOLK -- Funeral services for Edna Geisler, 88, of Norfolk will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Chip Winter officiating. Burial will be at the Lyons Cemetery in Lyons, Neb., at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday.
Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Howser-Fillmer Mortuary.
Edna died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Edna Geisler was born Jan. 21, 1920, at Hooper, Neb., daughter of John and Anna (Gerke) Happel. She was baptized by Rev. J. Lang and confirmed April 9, 1933, by Rev. E. Eckhardt at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hooper, Nebraska. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and District 51.
She married Paul Geisler at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Jan. 28, 1940, by Rev. E. Eckhardt at Hooper, Neb.
They moved to a farm southeast of Lyons, where they lived until 1996. They retired from farming in 1975.
Edna was an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church of Lyons.
In 1996, they moved to Norfolk, Neb., where she was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; one brother; and one great-grandson, Maxwell Paul Holmberg.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine (Geisler), her husband, Jerry Holmberg of Norfolk; a son, Robert, his wife Elizabeth of McCook; five grandchildren, Boyd Geisler, Brad Geisler, Nanci Mintling, Greg Holmberg and Dan Holmberg; 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
