TRENTON -- Kathy Marie Matson died Tuesday April 15, 2008, at her home near Trenton, Neb., at the age of 50.
She was born Sept. 5, 1957, at McCook, Neb., the daughter of Marvin and Ruthann (Lennemann) Klooz. She grew up in McCook where she graduated from McCook Senior High School in 1975. She graduated from McCook Junior College and received her Bachelor's Degree in Food Technology from Iowa State University.
She taught school at Republican Valley School. In 1982, she worked for her father on the family farm. In 1983, she joined U. P. S. where she worked for 12 years.
On Aug. 17, 1985, Kathy married Gary Matson at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook and they have spent their married life farming in the Trenton community. She enjoyed volleyball, visiting with everyone, gardening and working on her parents' garden farm. She would often deliver vegetables to friends and the elderly in the community.
In 1998,she became the adoptive mother of five children from Brazil. She made Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior of her life in November 1982. Kathy's Christian family was very important to her.
She attended both St. James Catholic Church in Trenton and the Cornerstone Church in McCook.
She lost her battle with cancer but was victorious to be with her Lord in Heaven.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Matson of Trenton; children, Valerie Loghry and husband, James of Trenton, Julia Matson and Got Both of Grand Island, Neb., Denise, David and Sam Matson, all of Trenton; grandchildren, Josh and Jayden Loghry and Junior, Jason and Isaiah Both; her parents, Marvin and Ruthann Klooz of McCook; one sister, Karen Hunter of Little Rock, Ark.; and relatives and friends.
Rosary will be 7:30 p.m., today at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton with Rev. Val Bartek officiating. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery at Trenton.
Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in Trenton from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
